The First-Ever Cape Cod Pirate Festival comes ashore in Yarmouth this Summer!

Skull Island will host the inaugural Pirate Event on August 28th and 29th

[Yarmouth, MA, June 21, 2021] Veteran events producer and talent developer Chris Edwards is bringing ashore his own crew of pirates this summer.  The two-day event will feature two stages of pirate themed entertainment, music, shanties, interactive pirate actors, games, black powder demonstrations, and pirate themed vendors. Participants will be invited to test their hand at knife and axe throwing, get a fantasy face painting, or to just enjoy a pint and watch the music and performers who will be on the stages and streets.

Each day of the event will have a different theme and competition with Saturday being Dress Like a Pirate Day and Sunday being Talk Like a Pirate Day.  Festival participants of all ages in the Dress Like a Pirate competition are expected to wear a pirate-themed outfit that day and participants in the Talk Like a Pirate competition need to bring their best “Arrr”’s and “Avast”s.

The “Rogue’s Armada”, a pirate reenactment troupe raising money for Feeding America will provide a host of interactive family entertainment and performances through out the day.  The Yarmouth Minutemen will take on a piratical aspect as they provide explosive live-fire demonstrations from flintlocks and even a canon!

One of the acts that will be gracing the stages at the festival is the Whydah Washashores.  Recently formed for this event, the Whydah Washashores are comprised of many recognizable faces from Cape Cod Stages.

“I wanted to be able to take advantage of this growing interest in sea shanties,” says Edwards.  “I’ve loved them since my early days of doing these types of shows and the opportunity to showcase them now while their popularity is on the rise, all the while working with some of the most talented voices on Cape Cod is a dream come true.”

The event will be held on August 28th and 29th at Skull Island in Yarmouth.  Gates open at 10:30am and the event ends at 5:30 pm.  Tickets for the event at $7 in advance and $8 at the gate.  They can be purchased now at CapeCodPirateFest.com.
